Ipu Hangarua - Candle Refills

Save money and the environment. Ipu Hangarua - Candle Refills are part of our ongoing commitment to Papatuānuku and mean you can reuse those vessels over and over again. Just select your vessel; XL, Large or Mōmotu ahi, select your scent and we'll send your new candle, ready to enjoy your favourite aroma all over again - at a fraction of the price.

The process is simple... 

1. Place your used jar in a sink of warm water, making sure the water line is above the wax level on the outside of the vessel. Soak until any remaining wax softens.

2. Use a paper towel to remove the old wax and metal wick holder from the bottom of the vessel. Take care not to scratch the paint as this can chip easily.

3. When the old wax is removed, use warm soapy water and a fresh paper towel to gently wipe any remaining wax from the vessel.

4. Dry well and inspect the vessel for any hairline cracks or chips. 

5. If your vessel remains undamaged, peel the sticker from the bottom of your refill candle. Press the candle firmly onto the inside base of the vessel.  

6. Light, inhale and enjoy knowing your light has shone a little brighter for Papatuānuku today.

Note: Failure to secure the candle to the base of the vessel may result in the wick becoming unstuck as you burn your candle. If any chips or cracks are found on your vessel, unfortunately your vessel cannot be reused. Please do not refill and instead place your vessel into your glass recycling.
